Mr. Potato Head Pieces

One of my favorite activities to do in the spring is plant seeds with the kids.  They are just amazed as to what they can do with a little seed and some water.  I like to use grass seed. I get such a kick out of their faces when they see the grass growing so quickly.  Plus, when they have the Mr. Potato Head pieces on the cup they look so cute!  Before you know it... it's time for a haircut!

Circus Field Trip and Circus Writing Prompt Freebie

We had a blast at the circus!  It's been a few years since I had been there!  I thought all the acts were well done and tasteful!

My son is in 2nd grade this year so I'm pretty lucky to be on the field trip with him!

You can give students a choice or just give the class one of the prompts after you come back from your field trip. Click on picture.

This photo was saved to Pinterest without the link to the blog that posted it.  Utilizing this folding we made the circus tents and drew our favorite parts on a piece of white paper and glued it to the inside of the tent!

To make the scalloped toppers fold a piece of 18x9 construction paper in half the hotdog way and cut the scallop. When hanging them use a tack in two places half-way down the inside and the tack will hold up the top half to look dimensional.

The Frog Principal

Are you thinking of doing all those fun spring projects like flowers, butterflies and frogs!  Well, it's snowing in Wisconsin!  Maybe if we start our spring projects the snow will go away!

The Frog Principal by Stephanie Calmenson is an adorable story about a principal who gets turned into a frog and his crazy adventures!  Pick up these vocabulary and comprehension sheets to go along with this wonderful read aloud.

You could enlarge this on the interactive whiteboard and do this as a whole group, work in partners or even have each child complete their own!

I have been focusing on increasing student vocabulary.  This sheet can used as a dictionary activity where they look up the meaning of each word or students could draw a picture and use the word in a sentence.

This is an addition game using numbers 0 through 20. Depending on the numbers chosen it could be single digit addition or double digit addition.  Click here to get this fun freebie.

If you're interested in blog hopping over to a previous post on my life cycle unit for a frog and more click on the picture!
Thanks for hopping by!
